About Yoga
The word yoga means "union" and refers to the union of the mind and body and the self and the universe. It is an ancient science of life that originates from India and dates back thousands of years.
Yoga postures (asanas) help to develop strength and flexibility in the body, stimulate the internal organs, the body's glands and the nervous system and therefore benefit general health and wellbeing.
The breathing exercises (pranayama) develop mental alertness and concentration. They help to restore the body's balance by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system and are therefore a powerful tool for managing stress and anxiety.
Helena's yoga is inspired by somatic movement and mindfulness and all classes include movement, breath awareness and deep rest through relaxation, mindfulness and compassion practices.
